Basic Life Support (BLS) is a course designed for Healthcare Providers. While anyone is eligible to take the course regardless of occupation, for healthcare professionals this course is often a requirement – especially for those who work in a clinical healthcare environment. This includes individuals such as doctors, physician assistants, nurses, nursing assistants, medical assistants, dentists, dental hygienists, fire fighters, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, etc. These two courses are similar, but do feature distinct differences. The Heartsaver course is designed for the lay person – persons who do not work in a healthcare setting.
Both in person and e-Learning courses feature the same content and result in identical certification. The main is difference is that eLearning courses are primarily online which allows the student flexibility to complete the course at their own pace and on their own schedule. eLearning classes feature online videos and interactive tasks to facilitate the student's learning. Once a student completes the online portion, they will need to register for a skills session. This is necessary to complete your class and receive your certification. During the skills session, the student will practice and test out on the necessary skills for their course.
American Heart Association certification cards are processed electronically as eCards. Students should expect to receive their eCard within 24 hours of completion of their scheduled course. eCards will be emailed to the email address the student provided during the registration process. Students may as well view their eCard by clicking the following link: https://ecards.heart.org/student/myecards
If it has been longer than 5 business days from your scheduled class, please email info@codeblueedu.com. We will promptly request the AHA to resend your eCard.
If you need proof of certification for your employer or school, let us know that you would also like a letter confirming your certification while you wait for your eCard.
We understand if you need to cancel or reschedule, but please keep in mind fees will apply. Cancellations the day of class, no shows, and significantly late students will not receive a refund. For further information, please see our Policy.
It is important to be on time. Since majority of the courses provided are video based, it is important to be present for the entire class. Late students will be asked to leave, but will have the opportunity to reschedule. For further information, please see our Policy.
The number of credits is dependent on the profession of the student and the accrediting body that is going to determine the number of credits awarded. To retrieve your credits:
