AHA BLS Provider is a video-based, instructor-led course focusing on basic life support skills for use in both in-facility and prehospital settings.
This course is designed for healthcare providers such as emergency medical technicians, paramedics, nurses, physicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, police officers, and other allied health personnel. Medical or nursing students in training often require BLS certification as well. Any and all are welcome to register and attend. This is the highest level of BLS certification and the most informative.
AHA BLS Provider is a video-based, instructor-led course where students participate in hands-on practical scenarios. During the course, students work with our AHA BLS Instructor to complete the skills practice and skills testing required. At the end of the course, students must pass the BLS Provider written exam with a score of 84% or higher. Students are allowed to reference the BLS manual during the exam.
Students must begin the process to claim credits within 60 days of their completion of the course. The number of credits depends on the profession and the accrediting body who is going to evaluate, examine, and determine the number of credits awarded. After a BLS class, submit a request for credits by emailing info@codeblueedu.com. Once your request is received, CodeBlue Education will submit your roster to the AHA so they can have proof you attended the class. Shortly after, you will receive a form to complete and send in to your accrediting organization. The AHA offers continuing medical education (CME) or continuing education (CE) credits for some of its CPR and ECC courses, and CME/CE may also be offered for live events.
Students shall receive their AHA BLS Provider eCard within 24 hours of course completion. This certification is valid for two years. Students can expect to receive an email from ecards@heart.org or noreply@heart.org, with a link to claim their eCard.
