AHA HeartCode BLS Online + Skills Session is a blended learning course that offers students the flexibility to complete the majority of their training at their own pace anytime and anywhere with internet access. After completion of the online portion of the course, students must complete an in-person skills practice and testing session with an AHA Instructor.
This course is designed for healthcare providers such as emergency medical technicians, paramedics, nurses, physicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, police officers, and other allied health personnel. Medical or nursing students in training often require BLS certification as well. Any and all are welcome to register and attend. This is the highest level of BLS certification and the most informative. The format of this course is ideal for those who prefer the option to complete their training anytime, anywhere and have the opportunity to review topics and complete the course at their own pace.
AHA HeartCode BLS Online + Skills Session is a blended learning course comprised of two parts.
Part 1 - This online portion of the course utilizes a variety of eLearning assets such as eSimulations, animations, self-directed learning, and interactive activities to teach students BLS knowledge and skills. After completion of the online course, students must pass the online exam with a score of 84% or higher.
Part 2 - After completion of the online portion, students must attend an instructor-led classroom session focusing on skills practice, debriefing, team scenarios, and skills testing.
Students must begin the process to claim credits within 60 days of their completion of the course. The number of credits depends on the profession and the accrediting body who is going to evaluate, examine, and determine the number of credits awarded. After a BLS class, submit a request for credits by emailing info@codeblueedu.com. Once your request is received, CodeBlue Education will submit your roster to the AHA so they can have proof you attended the class. Shortly after, you will receive a form to complete and send in to your accrediting organization. The AHA offers continuing medical education (CME) or continuing education (CE) credits for some of its CPR and ECC courses, and CME/CE may also be offered for live events.
Students shall receive their AHA BLS Provider eCard within 24 hours of course completion. This certification is valid for two years. Students can expect to receive an email from ecards@heart.org or noreply@heart.org, with a link to claim their eCard.
